Jun.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. M.Eng. Arch. Hanaa Dahy
Hanaa Dahy, born in Cairo, is an architect and engineer registered in Germany and Egypt. After receiving her PhD with excellence from the University of Stuttgart in 2014, Dahy founded her (BioMat) department "Biobased Materials and Material Cycles in Architecture" at ITKE (Institute of Structural Engineering and Design) in the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Stuttgart since 2016. She holds European and international patents, has won various international awards, leads several industrial projects and is a founding member of ArchIDA (Research Center for Architecture in Stuttgart): Integrative Design and Adaptive Construction) and is PI (Principal Investigator) of the DFG-funded Cluster of Excellence IntCDC: "Integrative Computational Design and Construction for Architecture". She established her architectural office in Cairo since 2003 and has numerous architectural projects in Europe and the middle East. Her research fields include architecture inspired by nature, biocomposites, biomimetics, sustainability, smart materials, soft materials, ecologic building Systems, product design and digital fabrication.
